Walk down the steps to this finished lower level in Centerville and you are automatically transported to an authentic Irish pub. A full-service bar encourages the homeowners and their guests to grab a seat and a drink. While an adjoining game room offers the couple’s children a place to unwind and have fun.
The homeowners had roughly 2,100 square feet of unused space to work with when they enlisted Matt Jones and Greater Dayton Building & Remodeling to finish the basement.
Like all pubs, the bar serves as the heart of the space. The 4×10-foot oak-topped bar sets the tone and is backed by rich maple cabinetry along the perimeter wall and a custom glass and wood backsplash.
Across from the bar, Jones and his team installed brick veneer on the wall around the drink shelf. “The brick is only 3/8-inch thick and is installed almost like tile,” says Jones. “What makes it a cool product is that when placed on the corners, like we did here, it resembles a real brick wall.”
Luxury vinyl flooring, mimicking the look and feel of real hardwood minus the maintenance, was used on the floor that flows right into the adjoining living room area.
