Having updated the rest of their home already, this Granville family decided to finally turn their sights to a kitchen remodel. The room was dated and very builder grade with average quality materials and it just didn’t fit their lifestyle. They called Ketron Custom Builders to breathe a little life back into their kitchen and bring it in tune with the other, previously updated areas of their house.
The main goal of this kitchen remodel was to get the homeowners exactly what they wanted in a very short period of time. Ketron was able to finish the whole project in about a month’s time. The walls in the kitchen were already painted a fresh green. The homeowners wanted to keep the walls as they were, which helped with the time constraints, and bring in pops of that color in the pendant lights over the island, the backsplash and the upholstery on the bar stools.
The island, itself, is the most unique feature of this kitchen. The island top “is made of solid walnut that we fabricated it in our shop. It is unique with larger boards than usual and really brings warmth into the kitchen,” Ketron explains.
The island top starkly contrasts with the bright white custom cabinets that were made for this project. Ketron chose custom cabinets because they fit seamlessly into the space and “the ability to configure and color to our specific requirements is really important.”
The glass backsplash, although the most difficult and tedious part of this kitchen remodel, helps to tie all the colors of the kitchen together – the greens, the warm brown of the walnut and the white of the counters and cabinets.
The Super Pantry, the one specific request this family made, was easy to tie into the design of the kitchen and provides ample storage and organization in a small, easily concealable area. With the kitchen being 14’x14’ being able to provide storage without taking away from the square footage was incredibly important.
When asked what he would do differently for this kitchen remodel given the chance, Ketron said, “Nothing. I really like the final result.” What was once a “blah” space is now a kitchen with a ton of life that is capable of serving this family for years to come.
