The doors to nine unique homes were open this past summer as part of the 2019 Homearama Touring Edition. Thousands of people walked through the homes scattered throughout the Miami Valley, taking in the latest construction and design trends. Here are a handful of the memorable trends we spotted at the show.
Shining a light
Statement lighting continues to be an important component in the design of nearly every room in the house. Orbit, stainless steel and glass fixtures seemed to dominate this year’s show. Adding softness, character and a touch of sparkle, you can’t go wrong with a great light fixture.

Subway chameleon
Subway tile has become a staple in home design thanks to its versatility. Whether you use it in a herringbone, straight stacked or brick pattern this clean and simple tile is able to blend in with any design, in any room in the house.
Invigorating colors
Earthy neutral hues and various shades of gray usually take center stage when it comes to interior design, but a refreshing splash of color, even dramatic black, can take a room to the next level.
Smooth transitions
We couldn’t help but notice a few homes utilized the same materials or colors both inside and outside. That seamless transition helps to blur the lines and create a wonderfully cohesive design.
