INGREDIENTS
- 1 (1/4 oz) package yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 Tbsp vanilla
- 1/3 cup room temp butter
- 1 egg
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 3 Tbsp ground cinnamon
DIRECTIONS
Mix 1 tsp sugar and water together, add the yeast. Let stand 10-15 minutes.
Add to this mixture 3 cups flour, salt, buttermilk, vanilla, egg and 3 Tbsp sugar until it’s made into soft dough. Don’t over knead the dough, but it should be smooth to the touch.
Place dough in a greased glass bowl and cover with a towel. Put in a warm area of the house for 1 hour, but not in direct sunlight.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface, to within 3/8 to 1/2 inch thick.
Brush dough with butter.
In a small bowl mix together cinnamon and remaining sugar then sprinkle on to the dough.
Roll up, jelly roll fashion, cut into 10 slices.
Place in two greased 8” round pie tins.
Let rise until doubled, about an hour.
Bake at 350 degrees until lightly browned, approx. 25 mins.
When it comes to the chocolate ganache frosting, that one is going to stay a family secret.
