To celebrate our 20th anniversary, we selected these spectacular settings to showcase some of our favorites throughout the years.
LUSH AND LIQUID
A cascade of greenery frames a waterfall, flowing into a pond teeming with koi fish and meanders toward the horizon. This two-acre oasis in Cincinnati grew organically over 15 years, guided by the thoughtful design and dauntless imagination of the homeowner and her designer and is enjoyed by her dog Sadie.
GOING GREEN
It was important for the homeowners to keep as many trees as possible when reworking their backyard living space in New Albany. Designers replaced their small, dark patio with a bright, multi-level entertaining oasis nestled among the greenery.
LAKE LIFE
A metal-roofed picnic pavilion sits on the edge of a 44,000 gallon man-made pond in Kettering. The structure houses a casual dining and cooking area, grill, refrigerator, ice maker, TV and sound system. A flagstone path leads to a gas firepit, which is fueled by lava rocks.
FORMAL FLAIR
Over 200 boxwood shrubs outline a series of planting beds in this formal English garden in Hyde Park. The centerpiece of this elongated alley is a large two-tiered fountain. The homeowner’s plans were to host large parties in the space with long rows of tables set on the center stretch of lawn.
FRENCH INFLUENCE
With multiple natural stone terraces and entertaining spaces surrounded by formal French-style parterre gardens, black wrought iron, striking red textiles, and a custom copper fountain, an Upper Arlington backyard space was transformed into a charming Parisian-inspired garden paradise.
RUSTICE AND ROMANTIC
FIRE IN THE ROUND
This aerial view makes it clear there’s room for at least 16 people to gather around the glowing fire pit. The Anderson Township homeowners host frequent neighborhood gatherings and wanted a space large enough for a crowd and say, “You can see the fire pit from space.”
CONTEMPORARY GLOW
On a six-acre wooded lot in Granville, Ohio, this 10,500 square foot contemporary home is a glowing work of art. The resort-like outdoor entertaining area with its rectangular pool, kitchen and glass fire pit was designed to be an extension that flows easily from the interior’s architectural style
