Color has a very powerful ability to change our mood with the blink of an eye. When it comes to room decorating ideas, a design often takes shape once a color scheme is chosen. Rick Watson, director of product information and technical services at Sherwin-Williams is sharing some tips for those of you looking to switch things up in your home with a splash of color. “Color is really a personal preference,” Watson says. “The first step in choosing color is deciding what mood you want to create in the space.”

For example, if you’re looking to redo a den, bedroom or a space to kick your shoes off and relax, Watson suggests a soothing blue, green or pale yellow. “In busy areas such as a home gym or kitchen, more energetic or vibrant colors, such as reds and oranges, would be good choices,” he says.
